This website, amandaleesmith.com, is operated by Amanda Lee Smith ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through the site, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
We operate in both Canada and the United States. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable US state privacy laws.
Information we collect
Information you give us. If you fill out a contact form on this site, we collect your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to write in the message field.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this site gathers some technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, the page that referred you, which pages you looked at, and how long you spent on them. This comes from Squarespace, the platform the site is built on, and is used for basic traffic analytics.
Cookies. Squarespace uses cookies to keep the site working properly and to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work as well if you do.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. Sending us a message through a contact form does not add you to any mailing list.
Who else has access
We use third party service providers to run this site and our business, including Squarespace (website hosting and form submissions) and our email provider. These providers receive only the information they need to do their job and are required to protect it.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, for example in response to a court order or a lawful request from a government authority.
Where your information is stored
Squarespace and the other providers we use store data on servers located in the United States. Your information may therefore be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the US, where it may be accessible to US courts, law enforcement, and government authorities under US law. By using this site or sending us a message, you consent to that transfer.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form submissions for as long as we need them to respond and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence, generally no more than two years, unless there is an ongoing working relationship or a legal reason to keep them longer. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold, including working with established providers that maintain their own security measures. No website or email system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you live in California or another US state with privacy legislation, you may have additional rights, including the right to know what we collect and the right to request deletion. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

This site links to other places, including podcast platforms, social media, and third party websites. We are not responsible for how those services handle your information. Please review their policies before sharing anything with them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last revised.
